Kolkata: A division bench of the Calcutta High Court has put an interim stay on Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay's order to terminate the employment of 32,000 primary teachers. A division bench of Justice Subrata Talukdar and Justice Supratim Bhattacharya said today i.e. on Friday (May 19) that this ban will remain in force till next September or till the next order of the court. Justice Gangopadhyay, while giving the verdict on the matter last Friday, has ordered the Board of Primary Education to start the recruitment process afresh.

A division bench of the Calcutta High Court today said in its interim order that Justice Gangopadhyay's order to start the recruitment process should be followed. Let us inform that, initially in 2016, a total of 42,500 were recruited. Of these, the 6,500 who are trained (having a teaching degree or DLD) are always unquestionable. The remaining 36,000 untrained primary teachers were terminated by Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay last Friday. Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay said that if he passes the interview again, he will get his job back, otherwise he will lose his job. After that, on Monday, the counsel for the plaintiffs appealed in the court.

Let us tell you that in the beginning of 2016, 140 job seekers including Priyanka Naskar had filed a recruitment case. Their lawyer Tarun Jyoti told the court that many untrained people were given jobs even after getting less marks than these litigants. In this case, the interview controversy arose. It was complained that according to the rules, aptitude test was to be taken in the interview, but in many cases it was not taken. Justice Gangopadhyay also recorded secret statements by summoning the interviewers in different districts. On the basis of this, he ordered to cancel the work. The Board of Primary Education has already moved the Division Bench of the High Court challenging the order of dismissal of Justice Gangopadhyay.
