BHOPAL: Five people have reportedly been arrested on the charge of gang-raping a 17-year-old girl at Rewa district in Madhya Pradesh, police said on Monday. An investigation for the sixth accused is underway.

As per police statement,  the man met the girl's family on Saturday morning and drove her to a temple. Six men approached them as they were strolling through a jungle behind the temple after receiving darshan. They dragged the pair two to the bushes where they took turns raping the girl after they had overpowered and beaten the young man.
The criminals threatened to kill them if they ventured to shout for help or tell anyone about it. The rapists left after an hour of torment, reminding the couple of their threat.

The district police allegedly apprehended five people, including two children, within 24 hours of the complaint after filing an FIR.

According to SP Rewa, six people are still being sought after three were taken into custody in Rewa and two in Mumbai.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the chief minister, requested reports from the Rewa district police on Monday. The chief minister gave them explicit instructions to take action against those responsible at a digital meeting with the district collector and SP. "I'm ordering you to ignore everyone and kill everyone connected to the gangrape event. Even though they are children, they do not deserve any forgiveness " during the meeting, Chouhan said.

According to a senior police official overseeing the case, the homes of five suspects have already been bulldozed down, and the sixth suspect will soon face a similar fate.

Notably, the couple was to get married after 3 months, after the girl (victim) turned 18. The incident comes to light a week after a three-year-old girl child was sexually assulted in the state capital Bhopal.
