HYDERABAD: The cabinet sub-committee has resolved to submit a proposal to the cabinet to include English medium for grades 1 to 8 in all state government schools starting in the 2022-23 academic year. The panel has urged officials to take the required procedures to carry out the proposal.

The sub-committee, which was formed to investigate the English medium plan and work out appropriate modalities for its implementation and enforcement of fees in private schools, met on Wednesday and decided to firm up the proposed modalities after discussing the matter with chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. According to the panel, textbooks should be published in both Telugu and English.

According to members of the steering committee, the TSAT channel might be utilised to deliver English lessons to pupils if necessary. With the addition of English to the curriculum, there is a chance that government school admissions may grow.

The education department, according to the panel, should be equipped to accommodate additional students. As the state prepares to implement digital classrooms, the education department was encouraged to adopt innovative technologies. Ministers KT Rama Rao, T Harish Rao, and Errabelli Dayakar Rao spoke at the meeting.
