The massive fire, which started from the ground floor around 2.30 am spread to the first and 2nd floors. Fire tenders deployed at the spot and doused the flames after battling the fire for two hours.

Eleven fire engines were deployed to put out the fire, which is thought to have been started by a short-circuit. The ground-level scrap material is where the fire is thought to have spread from the air conditioning wiring duct.
The state fire department's director general, Nagi Reddy, personally oversaw the firefighting effort.

The Telengana government has named the new Secretariat complex after Dr B R. Ambedkar. Chief Minister  KCR already stated that it reflects the pride of Telangana and would stand as a role model for other states.
