Terrorists wanted to establish Islamic Caliphate in South India, disclosed in NIA chargesheet

Bengaluru: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against an Islamic State (IS) terrorist in the Al-Hind module case. According to the chargesheet, the terrorists were plotting to set up an Islamic caliphate in South India. In the chargesheet filed on September 3, the accused Shihabuddin has been charged under Section120B of IPC, Section 25(1)(A) of arms act 1959, and sections 18, 20, 38, and 39 of unlawful activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.

Earlier, Mehboob Pasha and 16 others were booked at Sadduguntaplya police station in Bengaluru. Mehboob Pasha and Khaja Moideen, residents of Gurappanpalia in Bengaluru, who are accused in several cases of terrorism and murder in Tamil Nadu, formed a terrorist group by recruiting Muslim youths in South India. His base was in Bengaluru and he had been holding frequent meetings for criminal conspiracy in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka since 2019. Propagating the ideology of the banned terrorist group, ISIS, they conspired to collect weapons and explosives to kill police officers and Hindu leaders.

State that a new inquiry was initiated after re-registration of the case by the NIA on 23rd January 2020. On investigation, it came to light that Shihabuddin was involved in a major conspiracy and under the order of Khaja Moideen, he collected and provided arms and ammunition for other accused in Mumbai. SSI Wilson of Tamil Nadu Police was killed using these weapons.
