Jaipur: The dowry system continues to be a curse even in the 21st century. In our culture, while one more daughters are considered to be the form of the goddess, some greedy people still consider daughters to be a dowry shop. The latest case has come to light from Bharatpur in Rajasthan. At a marriage home in Bharatpur, the bride-to-be waited for the groom till 2 am last night, but the baraat did not reach.

While waiting, the joys of the wedding turned into tears and the bride and her mother started crying. The girl's father and brother kept pleading to call and persuade the groom, but the father of the dowry-greedy boy demanded Rs 11 lakh and put a condition to bring the baraat. In the marriage hall, the decked-up bride sat waiting for the groom and the band baje walas and pandits also waited for the pheras. When the groom's father could not speak to him even after waiting, the girl's father lodged a complaint with the Mathura Gate police station regarding dowry.

In fact, Khushboo, daughter of police constable Mahesh Chand, a resident of STC Housing Board Colony in Mathura Gate police station area, was married to Kushal Kumar, a resident of Prince Nagar. The wedding was scheduled to take place last night in a local marriage hall and the girl kept waiting for the groom for the wedding, but the baraat did not come till 2 am. The boy and his father insisted on getting married with Rs 11 lakh in dowry. Now, after registering a complaint in mathura police station area, the police have started investigating the entire case.
