Mumbai: A video of a writer and social activist Sudha Murthy touching the feet of Hindutva leader Sambhaji Bhide is going viral on social media these days. Sudha Murthy is facing criticism after this video surfaced. This is because Sambhaji Bhide had refused to speak to a woman journalist a few days ago because she did not wear a bindi. Sudha, who is usually vocal about the feminist and social advocate touching Bhide's feet could not abide.

Sudha is also the wife of Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy and mother-in-law of UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. She had come to Sangli in Maharashtra to promote one of her books, where she touched Bhide's feet as soon as she saw him. An activist of Bhide's Shiv Pratishthan Sanghatana said their leader Bhide had met Sudha Murthy to assist her in installing the golden throne at the Raigad Fort.

At the same time, a helper of Sudha Murthy said that Sudha had no idea who Bhide was, she had touched Bhide's feet due to being old. Yojana Yadav, editorial head of Mehta Publishing House, which organised the event in Sangli, claimed that the local police had requested that Bhide should be allowed to meet Sudha Murthy. However, Bhide was not invited to the function.
