The Indian Bridge Federation has also selected a six-member squad for the upcoming Asian Games to be held in Hangzhou, China, in which Debasish Ray has also served as the coach-cum-non-playing captain. The federation said in a statement that the team includes 2018 Asian Games bronze medal winners Sumit Mukherjee, Devvrat Majumdar, Jaggi Shivdasani, Rajeshwar Tiwari, Kaizad Anklesaria and Sandeep Thakral.

Pranab Bardhan and Shibnath D Sarkar, who won gold medals in the last Asian Games, failed to make it to the spot this time. Debasish Ray was also the coach-cum-captain of the team in 2018. Talking about this, he said, "This time the selected players have been engaged in very hard practice for a long time. I am sure India is going to do well this time as well. The team was selected after the trials held in Pune earlier this week.

The team is set to represent the country at the World Bridge Championships to be held in Italy next month. India had won the doubles gold and team bronze medal at the Asian Games in 2018.
