Usha Uthup is one of the most loved singers famous for her different style and music. She is also known as Indian pop icon. She has been singing for 53 years.  She is celebrating her birthday. Usha has sung various jazz, folk, pop, rock and in Bangla, Assamese, Gujarati, Tamil, Malayalam, and in a total number of 17 Indian languages and eight foreign languages. Usha Uthup, born in a Tamil Brahmin family. Her father was a Mumbai(Bombay) police superintendent.  Usha Uthup has three sisters, all of whom are singers, and two brothers. Usha Uthup never had formal training in music. In school she was thrown out of the music class because her voice was different than others. But that did not stop Usha Uthup from pursuing her dream.

Usha Uthup started singing when she was nine. Usha Uthup’s sisters, who were exploring a career in music then, took her to a musician called Hamir Sayani who gave her the opportunity to sing on the Ovelteen Music Hour on Radio Ceylon. She gave an outstanding performance.

After this she was called to sing at other events too. When Usha Uthup was 20, she started singing in a nightclub in Chennai and her performance was so well-received that the owner of the nightclub requested her to sing for a week. She performs songs at nightclubs influenced by the Western beat and rhythm, she wears the traditional East Indian saree and bangles in her appearances.

Usha began singing in nightclubs and hotels across the country. It was at one of her performances at a nightclub, various people praised her for her singing at that time. A film crew was mesmerized by her singing and offered her a chance to do playback singing and her Bollywood career took off. He first song ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna’ became such a big hit. After the song she did not stop, She gave the best songs not only to bollywood but in different industry. She has sung various song in various languages and now she is among the tops singer in India.
