This Govt provides Rs 70-cr cashless health service to over 70K patients

BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday said his government is offering cashless health service to more than 70,000 patients monthly and spending Rs 70 crore on this.

Speaking at a virtual orientation programme for the newly recruited 203 assistant professors in the Health Department, the chief minister said the state government is committed to offer universal access to quality healhealthcarevices and bring down the out-of-pocket expenses of the people.

In the current fiscal year, 2019–20, the healthcare budget projection has nearly risen to more than Rs 12,000 crore, which represents more than 6% of the State Plan.

"We have consistently held a firm belief in "Sustha Odisha, Sukhi Odisha" (healthy Odisha, happy Odisha). Every life is significant to us. Giving the people of Odisha access to health care services has been a vital tenet of our governance,"  he said. Patnaik advised the incoming assistant professors to adhere to the government's 5T (transparency, technology, teamwork, time, and transformation) strategy and make patients and their families happy.
"We must always keep in mind that we are not the only ones responsible for our success. It is a part of society. Our society has contributed to our success. It is our moral and ethical obligation to contribute to society and make people smile, "he told the new recruits.

"In your situation, there is no greater satisfaction than seeing a mother's face light up when her sick child is healed. This is the true fulfilment of your work, " he added.

The CM also said that hiring such a big number of assistant professors all at once will improve healthcare services and advance health education, increasing public happiness.
