Tirumala temple priest Pala Seshadri dies of heart attack

Pala Sheshadri, a senior priest at tirumala temple known as Dollar Seshadri, died of a heart attack in the early hours of Monday. He was 74 years old. The Special Duty Officer (OSD) of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) suffered a heart attack and took his last breath while being taken to the hospital.

According to media reports he was in the city for Kartika Deepotsavam. He had also attended some rituals at kalyan mandapam TTD on Sunday night. It is learnt that he complained of chest pain at around 4 am and the authorities took him to Apollo Hospital but he succumbed to his injuries on the way. Sheshadri's body has been kept at King George Hospital Officials are arranging to take it to Tirupati where he is scheduled to be cremated on Tuesday.

Seshadri had been serving the famous hill temple since 1978. Although he retired on July 31, 2006, successive governments have extended his tenure as OSD. Well aware of all the rituals of the temple history, Seshadri was the most prominent person in the TTD, managing the cases of the world's richest Hindu temple. Whenever a VIP came to the temple, his presence was considered mandatory.
