Srinagar: Tragedy struck in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district as a 'kutcha' house collapsed, claiming the lives of a woman and her three daughters, aged between two and five, officials confirmed on Sunday.

The incident occurred amidst moderate to heavy rainfall across various parts of Jammu and Kashmir on March 1 and 2. The adverse weather conditions led to damage to numerous structures, including residential houses, due to strong winds and hailstorms in different areas of the Jammu region.

In the Reasi tragedy, Phalla Akhter (30) and her daughters Nasima (5), Safeena Kousar (3), and Samreen Kousar (2) tragically lost their lives when their residence in Kunderdhan Mohra village, located in Chassana tehsil, collapsed under the weight of heavy rains, according to officials.

Additionally, two elderly family members, Kalu (60) and his wife Bano Begum (58), sustained injuries in the incident and were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention, as reported by officials.

Rescuers worked diligently to retrieve the bodies of the deceased from the rubble, adding to the grim toll of the disaster.
