Surat: A tragic incident unfolded in Gujarat's Devbhoomi, also known as Dwarka district, as four members of a family, including a child, succumbed to suffocation following a house fire on Sunday. According to Area Police Inspector TC Patel, the fire erupted around 3:30 in the morning on the first floor of a residence situated on Aditya Road in Dwarka city. Tragically, the entire family was asleep at the time of the incident.

Unfortunately, the family members were unable to flee the premises as the fire resulted in a power outage, leaving them disoriented and unable to locate the exit. Upon receiving reports of the blaze, firefighters rushed to the scene and discovered a couple, their 8-month-old daughter, and the man's mother unconscious on the first floor of the house.

Despite efforts to rescue them, all four individuals were pronounced dead upon arrival at the government hospital. However, the grandmother of the deceased, who was sleeping on the ground floor, managed to escape unharmed.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire originated from an air conditioner (AC) within the house, which overheated and subsequently exploded. Forensic experts have been summoned to determine the exact cause of the blaze. The victims have been identified as Pawan Upadhyay (39), his wife Tithi (29), their daughter Dhyana, and Pawan's mother Bhavaniben.
