Kutch : On Wednesday, a 3.4 magnitude earthquake struck Gujarat's Kutch district, although no casualties or property damage were reported, according to officials. 

The earthquake occurred near Bhachau around 12:05 p.m., said the Gandhinagar-based Institute of Seismological Research (ISR) in a statement.  The epicentre of the tremor was 12 kilometres north-northwest of Bhachau, at a depth of 12 kilometres, according to the ISR. According to a district administration official, no casualties or property losses have been reported. Low-intensity earthquakes are common in Kutch, which is located in a "very high risk" seismic zone.

On February 18, the district was shaken by two tremors of magnitude 3.4 and 3.1 near Bhachau. According to information released by the Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority, a catastrophic earthquake of 6.9 magnitude struck the district in 2001, killing 13,800 people and injuring another 1.67 lakh.
