Two Killed, 24 Injured in Himachal Pradesh Accidents

SHIMLA: On Wednesday, June 14, two tragedies struck Himachal Pradesh's Kullu and Hamirpur districts, claiming two lives and leaving 24 others injured. In Kullu district, a devastating accident occurred at Traihan Mor in Bashona village of Bhuntar. 

The Himachal Roadways Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus, carrying passengers from Narogi to Bhuntar, veered off the road, resulting in the loss of two lives, Godawari (40) and Vijay Kumar (32), both from Kullu district. Five other individuals, including the bus driver, also sustained injuries. Prompt action was taken as Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed his condolences and instructed the Kullu Deputy Commissioner to promptly provide financial aid to the families of the deceased. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of ensuring the best medical treatment for the injured.

In a separate incident in Hamirpur district, near Khairi village in Sujanpur area, a trailer truck overturned, causing injuries to 19 individuals. The unfortunate mishap occurred when the driver applied brakes. The occupants of the vehicle were en route to attend a religious function. Local authorities and police promptly arrived at the scene, providing immediate assistance and transporting the injured to the hospital.

Ten people with serious injuries were rushed to Hamirpur Medical College, while six people with minor injuries received first aid and have already been discharged. Additionally, three individuals are currently under treatment at the Sujanpur hospital. Investigation into the incident revealed that the truck was carrying more passengers than permitted, leading to the registration of a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

This follows a similar incident on Tuesday, where a bus carrying passengers in the Nichar area of Kinnaur district collided with a rock, resulting in injuries to 19 people.

The safety and well-being of individuals is of paramount importance, and the authorities are working diligently to ensure proper care and investigation in these unfortunate incidents.
