ISLAMABAD: At least 5 Pak army soldiers lost their lives and 2 others were injured in attacks carried out by suspected terrorists in 2 different areas of Pakistan's restive Balochistan province. On Thursday, troops of the Frontier Corps were attacked on Thursday in the outskirts of Quetta, the capital of Balochistan, and in the remote area of Kohlu district. Security officials said the first attack took place in the bypass area outside Quetta.

It has been learned that the Frontier Corps convoy has been targeted by placing a remote-operated bomb in a motorcycle here, in which one soldier lost his life and two others were injured. He said that the blast occurred near the vehicle of Frontier Corps which was patrolling. The officer said that the second attack took place in the Kahan area of Kohlu district where suspected militants targeted the Frontier Corps action post late Thursday and killed four soldiers. He said, "The armed attackers fired indiscriminately at the check post, to which the soldiers also responded."

But it is that there has been an increase in terrorist and separatist activities in Balochistan, the center of the Sino-Pak Economic Corridor (CPEC), and in recent times there have been increased attacks on security forces. On 15 February also, the Karawai outpost of Frontier Corps, located in remote areas of Kutch, was targeted in which one soldier was killed and the other one was injured.
