Bhopal: The violence in Delhi over the CAA and NRC has been in the discussion. Recently, Umar Khalid got the support of former Madhya Pradesh chief minister and senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh. Digvijay Singh has made a tweet in favour of Umar Khalid. In this tweet, he has supported Umar Khalid's campaign. Umar Khalid has been arrested by a special cell team of Delhi police probing the Delhi violence last week.

Now, in support of Umar Khalid, accused of Delhi violence, Digvijay Singh has referred to the views of Harsh Mander, an IAS of Madhya Pradesh cadre. He has made a tweet in which he wrote: "Harsh Mander has been a very conscientious and honest IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre. I have been familiar with him for the last 35-40 years. If he is in favour of Umar Khalid, I am with him. Gandhian can never be of violent tendency". Umar Khalid's arrest on charges of involvement in the Delhi violence case has been opposed by many people across the country.

While Harsh Mander tweeted "#StandWithUmarKhalid He's a youth a country should be proud of - idealistic, progressive, brave. We spoke together in anti-CAA protests: he spoke always of non-violence & Gandhi. Today he's arrested under draconian UAPA on trumped-up charges of conspiracy. Cry out, my country".

Many people say that the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act imposed on Khalid should be removed. 9 retired IPS officers have also been accused of the Delhi riots during the investigation. About 36 people, including Syeda Hameed, Arundhati Roy, Ramchandra Guha, TM Krishna, Brinda Karat, Jignesh Mevani, P. Sainath, Prashant Bhushan and Harsha Mandar have also protested. Digvijay Singh has supported Harsh Mander.
