Mumbai: After the divorce between husband and wife, in most cases, the husband has to pay alimony to the wife, but a case has come to light in Maharashtra where a court has ordered a wife to pay alimony to her ex-husband. In fact, a case has recently come to light in Nanded, Maharashtra, in which a local court ordered the woman to pay Rs 5,000 per month alimony to her ex-husband. Now that decision has also been upheld by the Bombay High Court.

The High Court, in view of the poor financial condition of the husband, also directed the woman's school to deduct five thousand rupees from the woman's salary per month and deposit it in the court. This divorce between the husband and wife took place after 23 years in 2015 and the wife is a teacher at a university. The husband argued in court that he spent a lot of money to teach his wife and compromised on many things related to the house. The husband said that he has many health problems, due to which his health is not good. His wife earns Rs 30,000 per month. So I am in dire need of alimony.

The couple got married in 1992 and got divorced in 2015 after his wife approached the court alleging cruelty. The husband had then filed a petition seeking alimony of Rs 15,000 per month, claiming that he had no source of income. The wife's argument was that the husband had a grocery store and he also earns by renting out his auto-rickshaw, while she also has to take care of her daughter. Therefore, the demand for alimony made by the husband should be rejected. But the court rejected the wife's plea and ordered her to pay rs 5,000 alimony to her ex-husband.
