SYDNEY: In the United Cup Sydney City Final on Wednesday, Madison Keys defeated World No. 145 Katie Swan to give the United States an early 1-0 lead over Great Britain.

World No. 7 Keys registered a 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 win over Swan after rallying from a set down.

Britain has been a wonderful underdog opponent at the United Cup, pulling off shocking victories over Australia and Spain early on. Swan won the first set 2-6 and appeared eager to keep up the momentum.

However, the American immediately recovered to win the second set but was unable to maintain an early lead in the final set. A double fault from the American allowed Swan to tie the match at 3-3 in the third set.

At the conclusion, Keys demonstrated her expertise. After two hours and eighteen minutes, she broke Swan with a focused and careful return game to take the lead at 5-4 and served out the victory.

Taylor Fritz will face Cameron Norrie in the next round of the tie, and Jessica Pegula will face Harriet Dart in the next round of the team No. 1 vs. team No. 1 match. In the fourth singles match, Frances Tiafoe will take against Daniel Evans.

The match will be decided by mixed doubles, which is set to pit Pegula and Tiafoe against Dart and Evans if the teams are locked at 2-2 after singles.

The winner of the match advances to Friday's United Cup Final Four, which will take place here. The top runner-up from each of the three City Finals advances to the Final Four as well.
