Ahmedabad: In Gujarat, the government had given new guidelines, according to which cinemas were due to open on Thursday, but it could not be done. There was no agreement between the owners of theatres and the film distributors to re-run the old films and this is now expected to open cinemas on Saturday, October 17. It is said that cinemas will now open on 17th October.

The theatres will open on 17th October. Cinemas and multiplexes were closed since March due to the lockdown that came into force due to the corona pandemic. Thereafter, the Gujarat government, in a notification issued on October 1, had allowed the opening of cinemas on October 15 with fifty percent capacity but it did not happen. Neeraj Ahuja, member, Gujarat Multiplex Association, said on Wednesday, "We (multiplexes in Gujarat) are not opening because we have not reached any decision with the distributors of Mumbai on re-running the old films". He further said, "There is a lot of hope that we will run most of the old films from Saturday. Distributors of Gujarati films are also not ready to release new films now. Meanwhile, the Chhattisgarh government has also refused to open cinemas and multiplexes in the state".

People will have to leave 1 seat. In addition, if there are 20 seats in one line, only 10 seats will be used and the remaining 10 seats will remain vacant.  A maximum of 50 feet of viewers will be allowed to sit in the entire cinema hall. It is also said that 4 people of a family will go to see the picture together and sit at a distance of 1 seat from each other.
