LUCKNOW: The stray cow menace is being addressed by an ambitious plan being developed by the Uttar Pradesh animal husbandry department.

In order to provide a precise blueprint of the strategy to eliminate the threat posed by stray cattle, the department enlisted the assistance of state government consultant Deloitte.

According to the initial proposal, the animal husbandry department would provide NGOs, institutions, or individuals access to between 25 to 30 acres of property after receiving expressions of interest, and they would be in charge of caring for at least 2,000 stray animals on the area that was given to them.

Public-private partnerships (PPPs) will be used to carry out the entire exercise. According to him, the interested party would be permitted to engage in business operations such as the manufacturing of bio-CNG, the selling of goods derived from cow dung and cow urine, and the establishment of a dairy.

"A maximum of 4,000 'desi' cows will be offered to the interested parties. The goal is to raise the standard of the breed and prevent the extinction of these cows, he said. The initiative would shortly be presented to the state cabinet for approval, according to the minister.

He said, interested parties will receive free land on a 30-year lease. The government would provide high grade milch cow breeds like Sahiwal and Haryanavi semen to the interested parties. According to the agreement, the interested parties must contribute money to the development of infrastructure, including the building of boundary walls and other necessities for operating a dairy. According to officials, the setup may also include a dairy, poultry, goat, or lamb farm, or both, and these operations might be commercialised to make maintaining stray animals a successful undertaking.
In order to prevent the animals from ending up in slaughterhouses, the minister promised that an appropriate arrangement will be struck with the relevant parties.
