Lucknow: There is a stampede in the BJP ahead of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. BJP MLA Avtar Singh Bhadana has resigned from the party and joined the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD). Bhadana had last contested from Mirapur assembly in Meerut.

RLD took to Twitter to inform about Bhadana joining the party and wrote, 'Former MP and senior leader Avtar Bhadana joined the Rashtriya Lok Dal today in the presence of RASHTRIYA Lok Dal National President Chaudhary Jayant Singh.' The fifth MLA has withdrawn from the BJP in two days. Avtar Singh Bhadana met Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) President Jayant Chaudhary on Wednesday and has been taken into membership of the party.

Avtar Singh Bhadana has been known as the leader who strengthened the BJP in western UP. The BJP's performance in western UP is projected to be weak since the kisan agitation. Seven phases of UP elections are scheduled to begin from the same region. In such a situation, leaving Avtar Singh Bhadana's side can create problems for the party.
