LUCKNOW:  In a bid to make Uttar Pradesh a cleaner and greener state, starting on December 1, a massive cleanliness drive under the "Swachh Bharat Mission Urban" will be held throughout the state, covering 750 civic bodies in 75 districts for 75 hours.

The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh is working to develop these mounds as selfie sites even as garbage mounds in Delhi spark political conflict.

The state's rubbish dumps, which are an eyesore, smell awful, draw flies and stray animals, and present sanitation dangers, are about to undergo a major makeover.

As part of the "Swachh Bharat Mission (urban)," a statewide cleanliness campaign covering 750 civic bodies in 75 districts will begin on Thursday (December 1). According to the government spokesman, there is a plan for this massive sanitation effort to transform "garbage vulnerable points" (GVPs) and "sensitive sites" for rubbish collection in roughly 750 local bodies of the state into clean places and develop them as selfie points after beautification. All the GVPs will be beautified and converted into either selfie sites with room for older residents or will be assigned to street vendors.

The best performing organisations in the "Pratibaddh 75 Districts 75 Hours 750 Bodies" campaign will receive rewards at the state level. All municipal commissioners have been given instructions to complete the campaign objective within the allotted period. Each category's winning bodies will be shown as "models" for other people to follow.

The letter titled "Pratibaddh 75 Districts, 75 Hours, 750 Civic Bodies," also outlines all the rules for the campaign to raise public awareness of cleanliness.

"By identifying the GVPs, the required labour and resources will need to be secured for this. Further, officials have been directed to make sure that the district magistrates would preside over the campaign's closing ceremony "the letter stated.

All urban bodies are required to designate every GVP in their respective jurisdictions as part of the campaign.
Such sites will be permanently removed from December 1 through December 3. Wet and dry waste from the obliterated garbage vulnerable points will be separated and then disposed of and treated separately. The officials have also been told to keep a record of collections such as glass, plastic, and bottle waste after an evaluation.
The spokesman further said, "Civic organisations will make high-quality, geo-tagged images of waste vulnerable sites (before and after removal) available on the State Mission Directorate, Swachh Bharat Mission email after the campaign (urban).

The state will award prizes for the top-performing municipalities, municipal councils, and nagar panchayats in the "Pratibaddh 75 Districts 75 Hours 750 Bodies" campaign under 5 population-based subcategories. Each category's winning bodies will be displayed as "models" for others.
