UP govt sanctions Rs.797-Cr for road work in Ayodhya

LUCKNOW: The government of Uttar Pradesh has approved Rs 797 crore for the broadening and renovation of road  workds leading to the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister, presided over a state cabinet meeting where the decision was made. The Ram temple is being built in Ayodhya in full swing. According to Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh, the cabinet has approved widening the 12.940 km route from Sadatganj to Nayaghat along the lines of the Kashi Vishwanath corridor in order to reduce crowds during major events in Ayodhya and deal with them.

He said that shopkeepers would receive rehabilitation and that the road from Faizabad to the Hanumangarhi and Ram temples would also be extended. The Cabinet has given the project approval for Rs 797.69 crore and given a two-year completion date, he said.

The focus of the government is to establish Uttar Pradesh as a hub for religious tourism, which has enormous potential for generating income,   the minister said.

He also said, for this, the government is working on improving air and road connectivity and providing basic infrastructure facilities for the convenience of people.

The already sanctioned road widening project near Ram Janmabhoomi and Hanuman Garhi temple has been put on hold due to ongoing Shravan fair and monsoon. The project will be speed up after the festive season is over.
