Upraise in Passenger vehicle sale to 19.92 percent, highest after four and a half year

The record of sales of utility vehicles in India has been broken as the sales rate touched 19.92 per cent in September 2016. The demand and acceptance of Domestic vehicular market has increased in the festive season. 

 2,32,170 units were sold last year according to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), whereas the Passenger Vehicles (PV) sales this year was standing up to 2,78,428 units.

The last time such year-on-year growth was seen in the year of 2012, when PV units sold were 2,95,403 which showed a growth of 22 per cent.

"The passenger vehicle numbers represent build up of inventories for the festive season. Besides, various car makers have been able to sort out capacity issues leading to supply of certain models which are in high demand," SIAM Deputy Director General Sugato Sen told reporters here.

The demand of the passenger vehicles were ruled by SUV’s such as, Maruti Brezza and Hyundai’s Creta.
