UPSC Civil Services Exam 2020: Six Manipur candidates crack

Imphal: Six candidates from Manipur have cleared the results of UPSC Civil Services Exam 2020 which were declared on September 24. Six candidates were selected from Manipur, Parikshit Thoudam (AIR 60), Vaikhom Nidiya Devi (AIR 180), Heikrujam Prasanjeet (AIR 578), Kshatrimaya Deepi Chanu (AIR 621), Hatchinghoi Haokip (AIR 673) and Lourembam Nelson Mangangcha ( AIR 757).

Parikshit Thoudam (AIR 60) had earlier cleared the exam in 2019 and secured 373rd rank. Vaikhom Nidiya Devi (AIR 180) studied at Padma Ratna English School Kakching till class X and was the overall state topper in HSLCE 2009. Nidiya's father Ibotombi is a retired driver of the state's medical department, while her mother Radhamani is a nurse in the same department. Kshetramayum Deepi Chanu's father Deben was a retired Group Captain of the Indian Air Force and is currently serving as a captain on an Indigo flight. Meanwhile, the Library and Information Council has extended warm congratulations to Vaikhom Nidiya Devi and Kshetramayum Deepi Chanu for clearing the Civil Services Examination.

UPSC on Friday declared the final result of Civil Services Examination, 2020. Shubham Kumar has topped the prestigious examination while Jagriti Awasthi and Ankita Jain have secured second and third positions respectively. The statement said that 10,40,060 candidates had applied for the exam, out of which 4,82,770 appeared in the exam. A total of 10,564 candidates appeared in the written (main) examination held in January 2021. Out of them 2,053 candidates qualified for the Personality Test (Interview). Every year the civil services exam is conducted by UPSC in three phases - Preliminary, Main and Interview.
