Lucknow: Floods have wreaked havoc in Barabanki in Uttar Pradesh. A population of about 55 thousand is severely affected by the Saryu River. Sarayu river is in spate in Barabanki. Dozens of villages, including Khalian, a farmland in the Terai region, have been inundated due to continuous rain and release of water from Nepal. Due to the erosion of the river, many houses along with the land of the fields have merged into the river.

The people of the affected villages of Barabanki who have been affected by the floods are forced to leave their homes and flee. Nearly 80 villages of the Terai are in the grip of floods as the water of the Saryu river rises above the danger mark. In these villages, due to the loss of food grains and other materials kept in the houses, there has been a crisis of bread on June 2 in front of people. Rain has come as a disaster for people living on the embankment.

16 districts of Bihar are facing floods. Floods have caused havoc in several districts including Samastipur, Darbhanga, Sitamarhi, Shivhar, Supaul, Kishanganj and East Champaran. Despite the gradual depletion of flood waters in Bagmati, Koshi and Budhi Gandak river, the scope of the flood has started to increase. Due to the flood waters in these rivers of Samastipur district, 134 villages of 9 blocks have come under flood.
