UP CM Yogi starts new award in place of Yash Bharti Samman

Lucknow: Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh is going to start a new award on the lines of Yash Bharti Award Scheme. According to the wish of CM Yogi Adityanath, an award is being started by the UP government to honour artists, social workers, culture workers and intellectuals.

The name of this award has also been determined by the Planning Department of UP. This new award will be known as 'Rajya Sanskriti Puraskar'. According to the department's plan, these awards will be given to a total of 25 people. The biggest award in this scheme will be Rs 5 lakh, which will be given in the name of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The Yash Bharti Award is the highest honour given by the Government of Uttar Pradesh. These awards are given for commendable contribution in the fields of literature, social service, journalism, handicrafts, medicine, culture, teaching, music, film, science, drama, sports, industry and astrology etc.

Iin the year 1994, Yash Bharti Award Scheme was started on the initiative of SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav during the Samajwadi Government. Earlier, the amount of this award was one lakh rupees. These awards were discontinued in 2006 after the BSP government led by Mayawati.
