Lucknow: Police station Dadri in Gautam Budh Nagar in Uttar Pradesh have seized nearly 700 boxs of liquor being taken to Bihar after the encounter to distribute among voters. A police official informed about the case and said that a truck was seen coming to the police during the investigation near Anandpur mode on Sunday evening.
He said, when the truck was stopped on suspicion, the driver tried to stand the truck and escape. He said, when the police chased the truck driver, he fired at the policemen. The officer said that during the retaliation, the police also fired, causing a bullet in the leg of a liquor smuggler named Pawan. He said one of his colleagues managed to escape from the spot.
DCP (Zone-3) Rajesh Kumar Singh said that police have recovered 700 boxes of English liquor from Pawan's truck, a resident of Rohtak, Haryana, which was being taken from Haryana to Bihar. He said the value of the recovered liquor is around Rs 50 lakh. He said that during interrogation, the police found that the liquor was floated by a political party leader to feed voters in the Bihar elections.
