Uttarakhand: Part of mountain fall on bus of devotees returning from Badrinath, 6 killed, several stranded

Chamoli: A section of the mountain at Chamoli in Uttarakhand fell on a bus full of devotees, killing five passengers. The incident took place at Lambgad in Chamoli. The bus was reportedly carrying passengers from Badrinath . There were 13 pilgrims on board the bus. Five injured persons including the driver of the bus have been admitted to Pandukeshwar Hospital for treatment.

The bus was reportedly carrying 6 passengers from Mumbai. Eight people are still feared trapped on the spot. Rescue operations are being hampered due to stone pelting from the mountain. Crane assistance is being taken for the removal of the bus from the debris. The SDRF team is engaged in rescue and relief operations on the spot. In Uttarakhand, nine children were killed when a school van fell into a ditch in Tehri Garhwal in another incident. The incident happened near Kansali Lamgava.

A Max van carrying schoolchildren fell into a deep gorge uncontrollably. It is reported that about 18 students were sitting in the van. IG, Garhwal Range, Ajay Routella has confirmed the death of nine students. The SDRF team is engaged in rescue and relief operations on the spot.
