Vasoo Paranjpe, a former Mumbai cricketer who later became a renowned coach, passed away on Monday in Mumbai. In 29 first-class matches for Mumbai, Paranjpe scored 785 runs, including two centuries and as many half-centuries. He also claimed nine wickets.
He rose to fame as a coach after retiring and is involved in helping to influence the careers of numerous Indian cricket legends, including Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, and Rohit Sharma, among others. He also gave Gavaskar the nickname ?Sunny?.
