Aligarh: In the midst of the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act, there was a disturbance in Aligarh on Sunday at two places in Uparkot, Shahzmal and Dehligate areas. First of all, some miscreants in Dehligate, among the crowd of protesters, threw stones near the religious site. The police and administrative officials who reached the spot tried to calm the matter by explaining to the people. Due to the protest, the internet was stopped from 6 pm to 12 pm. It was a stone-pelting between two groups at Maujpur near Jafrabad, Delhi.

The first CAA protests in Aligarh took place in the Uparkot region. Some youths involved in the crowd of protesters pelted stones at the police jeep and set the transformer on fire. After which the police lathi-charged the protesters and tear gas shells were released. Aligarh DM Chandrabhushan Singh told that - everything was in normal condition. On Saturday, the Imam of Jama Masjid had also been talked to. On Sunday some students of Aligarh Muslim University have tried to spoil the atmosphere. They are being identified. Damage to public property will be compensated by the miscreants.

The protesting women said that the protest will continue until the central government withdraws the CAA. After the stone pelting in Maujpur, a large number of women started picketing in support of the CAA, which has also ended after some time. The women warned that if the roads are not evacuated in the next three days coming from Zafarabad-Shaheenbagh, then we will start the demonstration again. Due to the performance of women, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has stopped the stoppage of Metro trains at Zafarabad station. The gate to and fro in the metro station was closed. The roads connecting Salimpur to Yamuna Vihar and Maujpur have also been closed. Protesting women are raising slogans of freedom by raising the tricolor in their hands.
