NEW DELHI: Ratul Puri, accused of money laundering in the VVIP helicopter scam case, has pleaded for extension of the period of exemption from arrest by a week. Ratul also challenged to secure the decision on the anticipatory bail plea. He said, the court has not yet decided on his application to provide a copy of the statement filed under provision 50 of the FIR and PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act).

Puri withdrew the plea from the Delhi High Court on Tuesday seeking directions to the lower court not to pronounce its anticipatory bail plea before hearing other pending applications. When his lawyer requested to withdraw the petition, Judge Sunil Gaud rejected it. The lower court had completed the hearing on Puri's anticipatory bail plea on August 2 and said it would be pronounced on the 6th of august.

Senior advocate and Congress leaders Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Vijay Aggarwal, appearing for Ratul, said that the Soar Court has reserved its verdict on their anticipatory bail plea but has not taken any decision on the plea for providing a copy of the statement filed under ECIR and PMLA. While the high court is too late and what can be done now, the lower court is going to pronounce the verdict today. Advocates DP Singh and Amit Mahajan, appearing for the Enforcement Directorate, said that the lower court judge has said that they will decide all the issues at the same time. The lower court has exempted Ratul Puri from his arrest till Tuesday.
