Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the importance of water and environmental conservation as integral to India's cultural values. Speaking virtually at the launch of the 'Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari' initiative in Surat, Modi urged for the "reduce, reuse, recharge, and recycle" approach to water management.

“Water conservation requires us to embrace the mantra of 'reduce, reuse, recharge, and recycle.' We must also employ innovative methods and the latest technologies to preserve our water resources,” Modi stated.

He pointed out that India has only four percent of the world’s freshwater resources and that many regions are experiencing significant water shortages. Modi also noted recent severe rainfall across various parts of the country, highlighting the need for better water management.

The 'Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari' initiative aims to bolster community engagement in water conservation efforts. It complements the ongoing "Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain" campaign, reflecting Modi's commitment to collaborative approaches for achieving sustainable water security.
