Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has won the by-election for the Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat in Punjab. After the victory, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann said that we do not come in trends, we come in direct government. AAP candidate Sushil Rinku was contesting on this seat. He has defeated Congress candidate Karamjit Kaur Chowdhary.
CM Bhagwant Mann and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal held a press conference after the victory. During this, he thanked the people for the victory in Jalandhar. CM Mann said, 'We don't even know who is our vote bank right now. We do not come in any survey, we come directly to the government. No one was believing that 67 would come, no one was believing that 63 would come. No one was believing that 92 would come.'
CM Mann further said that the scenario of every election is different and we took the decision taken by the people in Sangrur on our head. What were the shortcomings there, what we could not do, learned from them and are working in Jalandhar to remove those shortcomings. Bhagwant Mann said, 'People have rejected all these and have made the AAP government's fatwa of work culture and honesty victorious. More than 8.5 lakh people voted and we will try to live up to the expectations. We will consider it our responsibility to live up to the expectations of the people of Jalandhar.'
