Kolkata: West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee has said that the unemployment rate in the state is 6.5 percent in June, which is far better than the country. Citing data released by the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) on Saturday, Mamata Banerjee said that in June 2020, the unemployment rate of West Bengal was 6.5 percent, while it was 11 percent in the country.

Mamta Banerjee further said that because of this, the Corona crisis adopted by her government to deal with the Amfan cyclone is an effective economic strategy. CM Mamta Banerjee tweeted on Saturday that, 'We have devised a better economic strategy to deal with the damage caused by the corona epidemic, Amphan. The proof of this is clearly visible in the unemployment rate figures. Mamta wrote that, 'West Bengal's unemployment rate in June 2020 was 6.5 percent, while it was 11 percent in the whole country. In Uttar Pradesh, it was 9.6 percent in Haryana, 33.6 percent.

Let us tell you that according to the data released on Wednesday by the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), the unemployment rate in the country had come down to 11 percent in June, compared to 23.5 percent in May. The reason for this is to start economic activity after the relaxation of lockdown marks.
