A new initiative has been launched to ensure that more and more people get corona vaccine in Odisha amidst corona crisis. Residents of areas under Hinjili Municipality in Ganjam district of the state will get at least 5 per cent discount on purchasing goods from grocery stores in the town, only the condition is that the buyer will have to get corona vaccine.

The move is aimed at removing reluctance among ordinary citizens to get vaccines and creating awareness about the importance of vaccination. At least 10 such shopkeepers have made this offer after the appeal of Hinjili Municipality. 'We have appealed to traders or shopkeepers to give some discounts on purchase of goods only to customers who have been fully vaccinated, said Ananjan Sahu, executive officer of Hinjili Municipality. At least 10 grocery store owners have agreed to give a 5 percent discount for people vaccinating on ration purchases.

He said that in this order, it is the shopkeepers who will have to spend, the municipal corporation will not compensate for their loss or expenses. They will compensate for this expenditure from their benefits. If the customer shows his corona vaccination certificate, we will give a discount of 5 percent on the total purchase of ration, said a businessman from Hinjili.
