New Delhi: The Supreme Court has delivered its verdict in the NEET-PG counselling case on Friday. The court has asked to start counselling. It has also directed to keep OBC and EWS reservations in counselling applicable in this session. The central government had appealed to the court to start counselling. After which the Supreme Court reserved its verdict while hearing the case the previous day.
After the apex court's verdict, it has become clear that OBC will be given a reservation of 27 per cent in NEET-PG counselling. EWS students will also get the benefit of reservation from the same session. The Supreme Court has said that counselling needs to be started soon. The court will hear the matter in detail in the month of March. The court's decision will bring a lot of relief to NEET-PG students. Because now the path of counselling has become easier.
The apex court had challenged the July 29 notification of the Centre and the Medical Advisory Committee (MCC) to provide 27 per cent reservation to OBC in All India Kota Medical Seats and 10 per cent reservation to EWS students. The issue was being heard in the apex court. During the hearing, the Supreme Court had said that the entire process of counselling should be initiated in the interest of the country.
