Ghaziabad, In a shocking incident, a newly married woman was shot dead by her husband and family for dowry in Meerpur Hindu village of Tronica city area of this district.

DSP Anil Yadav said, Alisha, married to Momin alias Shahrukh for eight months, was shot dead by her husband for not getting a car as dowry.

As per the complaint filed by Alisha's brother Shafique, Shahrukh was demanding a car from the first day of marriage.

According to the police officer, “her brother alleged that on Wednesday evening Shahrukh and his family fired a bullet hitting her on the forehead after which she died on spot”.

A case has been registered against Shahrukh, his brother Aasif, his father Kayyum, his mother and sister under sections 304B, 302 and 498 A of IPC following the complaint by the victim's brother.

The body has been sent for postmortem, and Shahrukh, his brother and father have been arrested, his sister and mother are absconding.
