A mother of three daughters and nine-month pregnant women committed suicide by hanging herself. According to the reports, the women committed suicide after a ‘tantrik’ allegedly told her that she was carrying fourth girl child in her womb.

Mina Tomar, 30, a resident of village Rithwari in Morena ended her life on Sunday. The family members told that they found the body hanging in a room. After this, they rushed her to the hospital but the doctors declared her dead.

However, Mina's family members also claimed that she was under depression. The tantrik told her about the fourth girl child in her womb and hence she took this step. The husband of the dead said that they tried to convince her not to get carried away by the words of the tantric, but in vain. He also claimed that she remained tense all the time.

Shailandra Govil, the SHO of Porsa police station said that the postmortem report showed that her womb had a baby boy. He added that there were rumours in the village about the “baby girl as the reason behind her suicide”. So, therefore, this is going to be one of the angles being probed by the police during the investigations.

According to the reports published in TOI, to the census of 2011, Morena has a skewed sex ratio with 840 women per 1,000 men. This figure was 822 against 1,000 men in 2001.
