Jabalpur: In the Madhya Pradesh High Court, Pyare Mian and others have filed an appeal against the life sentence. A summer vacation bench of Justices Sujay Pal and Nandita Dubey has arranged for the matter to be heard in a regular bench. The date for this has been fixed as June 17. The case relates to allegations of rape and abortion of minors. In this connection, the Sessions Court of Bhopal has sentenced Pyare Mian and others to life imprisonment.

Pyare Mian was sentenced to life imprisonment 4 times. While her manager Owais was sentenced to life imprisonment, another woman criminal Sweety Vishwakarma was sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and dr Hemant Mittal, convicted of performing the abortion, was sentenced to five years of rigorous imprisonment. The sentence has been challenged through an appeal in the High Court. This case became very popular after it came to light. The trial court, after taking into account all aspects, had pronounced a strict sentence after being convicted. Giving more representation to the life sentence, Pyare Mian and his associates have come to the High Court in the hope of relief.

The High Court administration has done away with the exemption given to lawyers from wearing gowns in the wake of Corona. Now advocates have been made it mandatory to wear gowns from June 13. On the orders of the Chief Justice, the principal registrar judicial has issued a notification in this regard. The High Court had on February 11, 2022, under the SOP, temporarily exempted from wearing gowns. The Special Committee constituted to oversee the physical and virtual system in the High Court has abolished the exemption. The notification requested all the lawyers to come to the court room from June 13 wearing a full dress code i.e. coat, band and gown.
