New Delhi: Government employees have been waiting for an increase in DA for a long time. Now many media reports are claiming that there may be an increase in DA of government employees after Holi. According to recent media reports, after Holi 2023, the minimum wages of government employees may definitely increase. With this increase, the minimum pay will increase to Rs 26,000 from the current level of Rs 18,000. This year Holi will be celebrated on 8 March.

On the other hand, based on the suggestion of the Seventh Pay Commission, the government can take a decision on the fitment factor after Holi. The normal fitment factor is currently 2.57 percent. The full payment for someone drawing a basic pay of Rs 15,500 in 4200-grade pay is therefore Rs 15,500 X 2.57 or Rs 39,835. A fitment ratio of 1.86 has been suggested through 6 CPCs. According to reports, the government has held several rounds of meetings in this regard and plans to get it done before 2024. Its implementation can be announced in March 2023 after the festival of Holi. The employees are now reportedly demanding that the government increase the fitment factor to 3.68. This hike will increase the minimum wage to Rs 26,000 from the current level of Rs 18,000.

As per earlier reports, the central government is also expected to increase the dearness allowance (DA) for government employees starting January 1 in March 2023. DA and DR are updated twice a year on 1st January and 1st July respectively. The Finance Ministry has amended the guidelines for House Rent Allowance (HRA) for 7th Pay Commission employees. Dearness Allowance is increased twice in a year on the basis of ACIPI numbers after a six-month review. The increase in dearness allowance can be revealed before Holi and the salary can be increased after Holi. The increase in dearness allowance will help 68 lakh senior citizens and roughly 47 lakh employees of the country. At the beginning of the year, the government increased the DA by 3 percent, which increased the dearness allowance to 38 percent. Dearness allowance will increase by 41 percent on getting a three percent salary hike.
