Dehradun: Eight under trial prisoners, including five henchmen of Kaleem and Narendra Valmiki gang, escaped from Haridwar temporary jail by breaking the lock. Police have started cobbing in the jungles in search of absconding prisoners. On the orders of SSP, the vigil has been beefed up on the borders. It is reported that the five accused were recently charged by the Jhampur police for seeking extortion of one crore from the property dealer belonging to RSS.

According to police, the incident happened on Tuesday morning when eight prisoners escaped from a temporary jail. The inmates broke into the barrack in the morning and managed to escape from the temporary jail. It was discovered when the security personnel arrived at the barrack. There is no prisoner in two barracks. As soon as the information was received, there was a panic in the police administration. In search of absconding prisoners, police carried out a combing operation in the adjoining forest. Till evening, the accused have not been traced.

The absconding prisoners include the shooter Sagar Chauhan son Amar Raj Chauhan of Narendra Valmiki Gang, Nishant Verma son Dhiraj Verma resident Sainik Colony Chau Mandi Roorkee and Kaleem Gang's henchmen Rajat Sati son Rajendra Sati resident Kharsteep Haridwar, Nishu Sharma alias Bijli son Devendra Sharma resident Mohalla Ramgarh, Haridwar.
