Bengaluru: A woman named Krishna Gadhvi has made a serious allegation regarding the security arrangements at Bengaluru airport in Karnataka. Gadhvi has told in a tweet that I was asked to remove my shirt due to a security check at Bangalore airport. It is very humiliating to stand at the security post wearing only undergarments and no woman would want the kind of attention people were looking at. Bangalore airport what is the need to strip a lady?

A reply has also come from the Bangalore airport on this tweet of the woman. Airport wrote- Namaste Krishna, We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience caused to you and this should not have happened. We have raised this issue with our operations team and also forwarded it to the security team managed by CISF (Central Industrial Security Force). More details are awaited in this matter.

It is worth mentioning that in  March last year, one such shocking incident has come to light from Guwahati Airport in Assam. It is alleged that an 80-year-old woman, who had undergone a hip implant, was removed and searched by a woman CISF personnel at the airport here in a wheelchair. However, the woman soldier was later suspended by the CISF in this case. The woman had arrived at Guwahati airport along with her granddaughter. They had to catch a flight to Delhi. After the incident, the CISF, which guards all airports in the country, including Guwahati, tweeted that both safety and respect for the passenger are essential. The victim's daughter had tagged CISF and tweeted, "My 80-year-old mother's bandage removed due to airport security. Security personnel wanted proof of her hip implant, so she was forced to take off her clothes. Is this how we treat senior citizens?'' In another tweet, she wrote, "This is disgusting. My 80-year-old mother had to take off her undergarments and go naked. Why, why?" CISF officials said the concerned personnel had asked the woman to take off her lower body clothes as the detector was beeping. This indicated the presence of some metal on the person's body. CISF personnel on duty have followed the prescribed standard operating procedure in such circumstances.
