Wardha: While addressing an election rally in Maharashtra's Wardha, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack at the Congress party and accused it of labeling “peace-loving” Hindus as terrorists. He further said that the Congress party coined the term “Hindu terror” to insult the Hindu community.

“Iss desh ke croron logo par Hindu atankwad ka daag lagane ka prayaas Congress ne hi kiya hai. Hazaro saal ka itihaas, Hindu kabhi aatankwad kare aisi ek bhi ghatna hai kya? Angrez itihaaskaro ne bhi kabhi Hindu hinsak ho sakta hai is baat ka zikra tak nahi kiya hai. (The Congress party has tried to put the tag of ‘Hindu terror’ on crores of individuals of this country. If we go by our history, there is definitely not a single terror incident that was carried out by any Hindu. The foreign historians had also never mentioned that Hindus could be violent.),” he said, launching BJP-Shiv Sena alliance's poll campaign in the state.

PM Modi's comment comes in the backdrop of Congress' position on the 2007 Samjahuta Express blast case, in which 68 people were killed, including 44 Muslims.  Attacking Congress chief Rahul Gandhi's candidature from Kerala's Wayanad constituency, Prime Minister Modi said that the former was contesting from a "Hindu minority seat" as he and his party are "scared of Hindu anger". On Sunday, BJP chief Amit Shah had hit out at the Congress party, asserting that it "committed a sin" of calling the blast case a "Hindu terror".
