As the news of Hugh Hefner's death arrives, the world is getting interested in all the details about his life. While both critics and fans are discussing the 91-year-old's life, it's something that he himself did to ensure peace after death that has drawn our attention.

We are referring to the fact that Hefner will be laid to rest in the basement next to Marilyn Monroe's, at the Westwood Memorial Park in Los Angeles. One of the earliest triumphs of the Playboy founder's career was featuring Marilyn Monroe in the first edition of the magazine in December 1953. The edition featured Monroe on the cover, with a nude of hers published inside. According to Daily Mail, the copy sold 50,000 copies.

The magazine gained a lot from the publicity around this edition and went on to have nearly seven million subscribers by 1954. Although Hefner hadn't met Monroe in person back then, it was clear from his lifelong obsession with blonde beauties that he admired this iconic American actor. Monroe died in 1962 after a drug overdose and was buried at the Westwood crypt. The prices for the crypts around her went up immediately, and Hefner was one of the many men who vied for a spot near the actor.

One can't help but imagine what a fitting farewell it would be. The man who made sure he was surrounded by beautiful women all through his life will lie next to the most popular pin-up beauty of America, even in death. Hefner purchased the crypt next to Monroe in 1992 at a whopping USD 75,000. After his death, this is exactly the place where he will be laid to rest.
