Responding to a suggestion from a follower that Radcliffe and Watson owe her a public apology, Rowling argued that apologies should be reserved for individuals who regret transitioning and for women who rely on single-sex spaces.

Radcliffe and Watson have publicly supported transgender rights, although they haven't directly addressed the issue of transitioning children. In 2020, following Rowling's essay criticizing transgender rights, Radcliffe wrote an essay for The Trevor Project expressing his support for transgender women.
