Meerut: Narendra Singh’s murder case took another twist after two key witnessed including deceased wife and son were shot dead on Wednesday afternoon.

Narendra Singh was murdered by his distant relative Maalu for not supporting him a panchayat pools, family sources claimed.

Maalu allegedly blamed Singh for his defeat, “although he was murdered on October 19, 2016, almost 10 months after the elections”, she said.

He was gunned down in 2016 and Nichhatar Kaur, 60, wife of Narendra and son Balwinder, 26, a native of Sorkha village in Meerut district and were key witnesses in the case. On Thursday they supposed to appear before the court as key witnesses after the earlier hearing on January 18 was postponed, but just day ahead mother-son duo were murdered.

According to police, the assailants first shot Balwinder in his car after left his home, while his mother was sitting on coat outside her resident along with her sister-in-law Bijendri.

Meerut SSP Manzil Saini said that Balwinder has shot dead barely stone throw distance away from his home. Within few minutes assailants killed his mother.

SSP Saini said that one suspect — Tarun, alias Golu (23) has been arrested and booked under IPC Section 302 (murder). “He has denied involvement. His motorcycle was found close to the crime spot,” she said.

Search for two other assailants is going on as they were identified as Maange, elder brother of the man accused of killing Narender, and the other unidentified, she said.

Police informed that all three assailants were caught on CCTV installed outside the house, installed by the family after Narender’s murder.
