BANGALORE: A young man from Delhi who was in Bangalore for air force training was found Friday hanging in his room, under Gangammanagudi police station limits on Friday, September 23.

Ankit Kumar (27), who is from New Delhi, has spent the last 1.5 years receiving training at the Air Force Technical College (AFTC), according to the statement by the police.

According to information from reliable sources, the youth had misbehaved with a woman candidate during the training, following which the training officer had taken the decision to terminate him.

The authorities are maintaining that Ankit took drastic action because he could not stand the humiliation. The family of the deceased youth, however, asserted that their son had been murdered.

They alleged that the training officer killed their son and made it appear as though he committed suicide. The case has been taken up by the Gangammamgudi police, who are looking into both sides.

The deceased person's body has been taken to MS Ramaiah Hospital.

Further investigation is being carried out now.

How to prevent suicide: Suicide is the third leading reason of death among young adults globally. There is a growing recognition that prevention strategies need to be taken to the region-specific demographics of a country and to be implemented in a culturally-sensitive manner.
