Nashik: A woman in Maharashtra has levelled damning allegations against police officials for delaying the registration of her complaint of gang-rape by six hours. In her statement to media outlets, the 22-year-old woman alleged that she was abducted and gang-raped by two men.

The survivor claims that she was abducted and gang-raped by two men onboard a moving autorickshaw. She further alleges that the autorickshaw was stopped by beat officers who instead of rescuing her, let the accused's autorickshaw flee from the spot in return for a monetary bribe.

She went to the police station the very next morning around 8 am to register a complaint against the rapists but the case was registered only six hours after she lodged her complaint. Acting on her complaint, city police arrested both of the accused who are being interrogated by police to establish an exact timeline of events on the day of the crime.

In March of this year, an assistant coach employed by a school in Nashik was accused of molesting four minors inside the school premises. A complaint was filed in this regard by parents of the minors leading to the coach's arrest. A police investigation revealed that the accused coach had indeed sexually assaulted several other students. The accused was later arrested and booked under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

In fact, a much similar case had come to light from the national capital earlier this year where a 42-year-old woman was abducted and gang-raped in a moving autorickshaw by as many as five men. In her complaint, the survivor had alleged that she was dumped in an unconscious state behind an eatery on the expressway 12 hours after she was abducted by the accused. All of the accused were later arrested by Delhi police.
